Carvoeiro
|
Carvoeiro
is a picturesque village nestling between two cliffs. It
is layered with white-washed villas and buildings, which
seem to undulate in harmony with the natural rocky landscape.
The beach is small but ample and is fringed with seaside
cafes and restaurants and still home to local fishermen
whose boats complete the picture postcard scene. Although
there are lots of bars and restaurants there is only one
night club and this makes Carvoeiro ideal for families and
couples looking for a relaxing holiday. Carvoeiro is an
excellent resort to use as a base for touring and exploring
the region.
Carvoeiro is one of the more traditional resorts on the
Algarve even though over the years the main street has now
become a trilogy of shopping streets and bars it still holds
onto the small village essence that is Portugal. Carvoeiro
sits sedately between the numerous coves and bay’s which
stretch the length of the Algarve coastline. Situated south
of Lagoa and close to Ferragudo it maintains its traditional
fisherman’s village feel where you can relax and watch the
world go back in any of the popular coffee shops or café’s.
At night it can come alive and with a choice of bars and
restaurants can meet the wants and needs of any holidaymaker.

Centianes Beach, Carvoeiro
A lovely beach with plenty of space at low tide - recently
extended with some old cliff removed (to make it safe). There's
a good fish restaurant O Stop, overlooking the beach, recently
been completely rebuilt to modern hygene standards. The beach
is approached by a pathway from a small gravel carpark and
there are a few steps leading down onto the beach. Sunbeds
& shades

Vale de Milho
Golf Course
Holes range in length from 60 meters to 164meters, but
with attractive water hazards throughout, players must think
carefully about what club should be used. Bunkers and greens
are virtually the same as on an 18 hole layout, so playing
out of the sand and putting are suitably emphasised. The
second hole is a prime example of what the course is all
about. There is a waterfall coming from the left to a large
lake on the right. If you think you can carry that, there
is not so much of a a problem. But it can be daunting and
many will choose to "lay up" and look only for
a bogey, or a good chip and putt to make the par. For the
remainder, the fourth is tricky because you play from an
elevated tee to a green which is much lower down. Visually
foreshortened, club selection changes from second to second
in the mind's eye. Approaching the clubhouse, the ninth
at 134 meters has a fairway that is relatively narrow and
kicks off right. The green is well protected by bunkers,
and the terrace of the very busy clubhouse extends out above,
making approach shots and putting very self conscious matters. |
